2008 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD

It’s been three weeks since we sold the 2004 Ford Explorer AWD and took onwership of a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid

The Hybrid has a little learning curve in order to master the maximum fuel mileage. I am learning how to “double-tap” the brake to trick the Hybrid to use the battery and using “Low” gear to achive the same goal. Today driving from Park Meadows Mall to South Broadway and Highlands Ranch Blvd, I achieved 39 mpg over 8.5 miles. And that is with rolling hills terrain too.

The 2008 Escape Hybid has these options:
- dual zone climate controls
- dashtop information display w/outside readout
- ABS
- airbags: front & side
- indash GPS navigation system
- heated leather seats
- iPod plugin
- center console 100v electric outlet
- power seats

Here’s a few statistics over a 3-week period:

Miles Driven: 427
Average MPG: 27 (driven mostly with full A/C on due to 95+ degree days)
Average Cost Per Gallon: $2.85
Gallons Used: 15.8
Total Cost: $45.00

Compared to Explorer (averages 12 mpg city)
Gallons Used: 35.6
Total Cost: $101.46

3-week Savings: $56
