Aside from the obvious transportation issue in Highlands Ranch, the fact that most people live in vastly over-sized McMansions greatly impacts energy usage. 

I'm sure you're aware of of peak oil, but also consider the probability that natural gas will peak in the next decade or two and the downside will be much more of a cliff than a slope.

If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend watching &quot;The End of Suburbia&quot; and &quot;What a Way To Go&quot;. Will give you some more to think about.
